Art Journal

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that the other day I decided to share art from my art journal. It's my latest idea which I thought would work well for me. Every idea or art is not transferred on to a canvas. The beauty of an art journal is that ideas can be re-visited, worked through, or developed. They are a preservation of thoughts at a particular moment, but are in the form of an image. It is also a good idea as you are able to keep ideas together, without worrying where they will hang on the wall or wall space. I also realized that while the quality of the art work in an art journal does not call for anyone to be a professional artist, the art work itself is a conveyor of messages and ideas. This is what I pondered upon when I created the following entry:

I decided to call this page Petit +. It conveys the idea of goals. I have written about goals, but these are now created in an art form. For every large goal that one hopes to achieve, we have to work on the smaller parts. The small pieces that carry us towards, and achieve the long-term goal that we desire.

Thinking and reflecting upon the art journal
I also realized the need to bring in more books / eReaders that are visual, and appealing to the eye. These could be in the form of novels, or comics. This thought also connects with reflective writing. While students might be encouraged to write journals for specific topics, why not diversify a little? Why not create the space and time for artistic expression? The benefits are profound, especially for students who are living in urban areas. The art not only acts as a form of self-expression, but also contains meditative elements of emotional release, and energy clearing. Including visual elements with writing and reading are also beneficial for those students whose reading levels need to be improved. The creating process, and the completion acts as an intrinsic motivator, where there is a felt sense of accomplishment.

Not every student / person is going to be an avid reader, and not every student / person is going to rush to the idea of creating art. Which is why variety is good to develop a well-rounded skill set. As social innovations and technological progress is made, we have to always understand that there is going to be impact on students, we don't see the effect at an instant, but it is constantly evolving, which is why we have a term called social molding. As we live in a wired age, thinking of ways to include pockets of time to be "wireless", is absolutely essential for the health of the brain / spirit / soul for individuals of all ages.

My thoughts to share with love & kindness! :)
