The Thorn

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I was taking the time to think about the latest terror plots that have emerged. It is deeply saddening, and heart breaking to know that there are "familial" links to these plots. There was a period of anger, deep utter shock, to disbelief, and now finally acceptance. This is what emotion is. Emotions cannot be ignored, they have to be dealt with, worked with, and eventually a healing. Or maybe never healed? Maybe we just learn to live with our wounds in such a way to carry ourselves forward.

It does not matter if it is your own blood, when values do not match, it simply means that decisions have to be made. I am proud of our children who are hugging me. I am all they have, and they are all I have. I could never compromise them. And as for me, my writing, my words, will heal me. With a tender heart.

Dedication: These words are dedicated to the people of America and the forces around the world who serve for the protection of love and light, we appreciate you. With love & kindness! :)

The Teachable Moment

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I was taking the time to think about my previous thoughts. Particularly the idea of communities and our children. Everything that we do and say will activate the type of future that we foresee. This thought can be linked to the importance of mentorship, and seeking mentors that will not breed weeds in the mentee, yet seek to encourage and inspire the mentee to seek the way of the heart; to find out what exists within. This is actually how individuals learn best. Our learning, retention, and desire to learn is increased when we are interested in the learning material.

Picture

Mentorship is important for all. There are no bad kids, maybe kids that are on the wrong track. Kids that have been exposed to problems that arrive through socio / economic status, family unit breakdowns, poverty, abuse, crime etc, all require care and our attention. Sometimes we make a pass at these kids by enacting time - outs, or simply brushing them away, but this should never be the case.

As educators as much as it is our duty to report behaviours that are detrimental to societies, and for the purposes of public safety, we still need to understand the behaviours, and in a sense use these as teachable moments. Question the behaviour, to find solutions and preventative measures. A simple example can be that of helping a student, even though you know that you are pressed for time. This also happened to me. I had a team meeting, but a student approached me for help. At first I told the student that I have a meeting, but then the urge not to turn the student away cropped up. I decided to meet with her first. This is what the educators role is all about. Making decisions, and being able to think, and act at any given moment.

As much as we need to practice reflective thinking practices, we must also possess the ability to make quick decisions. Whilst my thoughts may sound extreme for my simple example, it must be recognized that these are human lives that we are dealing with everyday. The educators impact is a lasting impact. And we want to make sure that this is a positive. When there are gaps or upsets, we can turn these around by activating them as teachable moments, that are accompanied with unconditional love.

Human beings are valuable beings, and how we choose to act, think, or make a decision has the power and ability to affect eternity.

Dedication: These thoughts are dedicated to all students / children. You are loved, my thoughts to share with love & kindness! :)

The Invention Tension

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where  there is love, joy, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that over the weekend we decided to do an experiment in our home. I wanted to have a phone free weekend. So my son agreed to switch my phone off and keep it safe, and guess what? It worked. I was able to have a phone free weekend. It was actually quite difficult for the first few hours or so, but I found myself telling him to keep it with him for another day. This little experiment of ours was actually quite liberating, and it can actually reveal an example of how as individuals we have become so addicted to our phones. The feeling of emptiness, to the feeling of becoming liberated indicated that sense that there is a change that is happening to the brain. There is a sense of attachment, to the sense of feeling a loss.

The emotional roller coaster alerted me. Not just over the weekend, but for a while. This is why I always try to arrange for mental breaks. Especially when I know that I need to give full attention to another task / activity, such as completing my readings, spending time with the children, or even when I take a walk. I enjoy taking photos when I take the time for a walk. But sometimes on purpose I will shut down my device while I am walking, especially when I go into nature. I will sometimes pause where I would of taken a photo and use this moment to take everything in with my eyes, sort of capture everything with my photographic memory. I find this task really replenishing.

Picture
River Beauty - Arizona, United States Of America.

Whilst I have spoken about shutting down my phone and taking brain breaks, these are I believe absolutely necessary for the purpose of our mental well - being, yet I also understand that we are living in a technologically driven world. We cannot do away with technology, it is simply about managing our time with technology.

This is the beauty of innovations. When we invent something through creating a product, what we have actually done is taken the time to find a solution for a problem. An example could be the phone. The positives can be seen as extensions. The phone allows us to communicate instantly. We can take photos, call family at a global level, keep connected with our children, to make sure that they are safe when we are going about our daily lives. There are so many other features, and it is needless for me to say, because we are all accustomed to our phones.

With the extensions (positives) also arrive amputations (negatives). Amputations can be seen as what is taken away or even be related to the term: opportunity cost. What is the cost involved of these extensions? These could be that our data is being stored, surveillance, and hackers. Third parties can access data in an instant. We can relate the amputations to my earlier example of feeling a sense of addiction, busyness, and feeling bombarded with a plethora of information, sometimes more than we need.

Another example can be that of the automobile. Whilst we have seen the beauty of transportation, it allows us to travel, journey, provide comfort, etc. Transportation arrives with the cost of the pollutants to the environment. However, I don't want that amputations to be viewed as negatives at this point. At this point I want them to be seen as once again another problem, that requires a solution. This is where we can think of methods for improvement, another chance to be innovative and creative. I actually see the amputations as a gateway for industry to design, develop, and be creative.

Picture
Diagram to illustrate my thinking and reflection

Whilst I have written about the positives and the negatives that arrive with the offering of two examples. This way of finding the +/- can be related to anything. Not just in the broad sense of industry, manufacturing, but in the micro sense of the self. How are we to be with the self?

Technologies are here to stay, there will be more and more innovations. Technological and social innovation is what pushes and propels societies further. I am not saying to do away with technology. I am saying that we must find ways and methods to be with technology, and also find ways to once again be with the self. To be with our heart.

Dadi Gee Will Live Forever

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that for the past few days I have been in a state of shock and dismay. Whilst there have been terror attacks that I have written about frequently, the concerns have arisen again with the latest terror attacks in London. The London Terror attack is deeply concerning as it was this attack that has revealed the connections of an intricately related web, that traces back to "ISIS". With utter shock, pouring heartbreak, I am in utter disbelief. But the disbelief has turned into a belief as I have sadly realized the extremism breeding ground.

So there were some difficult conversations, and a lot of anger was displayed because of the need for truth, which is leaving my heart unsettled. To search for the truth does not mean that someone is "mentally ill", "unfit", or that "I do not understand English". It means that I am searching for the truth. And I will find the truth. Which I have. As a public educator it is my upmost duty and responsibility to to care not just for the public we serve in the classroom, but also at the level of the macro. And I don't take this issue lightly.

Any form of evil, darkness, hatred that is leading to extreme Islamic terrorism must be rooted out. There is no room for this type of backward thinking for a world, and earth that is moving forward with the vision of love, unity, and peace. It simply cannot be. Unite, surrender, for love and peace ....

So as the difficult conversations became heated, I have decided that it is best for me to focus on my path and my purpose (although the truth is my purpose). In the time of my darkest days, it was sheer coincidence that I was blessed with the mentorship of Fred Cuellar. Whom I have given all authority to, this includes our children. And  I will also add that I am the daughter of my Dad forever. And I always will be. I will never conform to the non - sensical violence until there is justice.

Whilst I write these words it must be said that I am also deeply concerned for Muslim communities where extremism exists. These are breeding grounds that will infiltrate communities to families and eventually to children. More harm will continue to evolve . I would never sacrifice the truth for this horror, and I pray that justice will prevail.

And to whom it may concern.
Please note that killing is bad. Your father did not raise you to be arrange killings. For anyone who is on the Sufi path, associating with the Sheikh's also means submitting yourself with Extremism because your practice is funded by them, and what they say is what you will have to conform to. You are severely brain washed, and absolutely not welcome to contact me or our children.

Love is who I am, love for all race, gender, ethnicity, origin, sexuality, religion, faith, ability or (dis) ability. I will never ever sacrifice this vision. And have first hand experienced the severity of hate from you. A world that is moving forward asks for unity, love, and peace.

Daughter of Sadaquat Ali Hussain
My grandmother (Dadi Gee) told me that she had named my father Sadaquat Ali Hussain. Sadaqaut means: Sincerity and truth. And this is what I stand for. This is what America stands for, and this is what the world stands for.

Dedication: The words of this being are dedicated to my father. I will always stand for sincerity and truth. And to my mentor Fred Cuellar, I will always stand for sincerity and truth. And to my family I will always stand for sincerity and truth. My thoughts are with those who have suffered from the insanity of Extreme Islamic Terrorism. May truth and justice prevail. I am ready and will to testify and stand witness. God Bless You, God Bless America.

Love, Peace, Unity.

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I was taking the time to think about the many unsettling events that have occurred just in the past few day, which have simply left me in a state of utter shock and amazement. To a realization of my opposition. Not only my opposition, but to the United States Of America, and also to the world. Which kind of educated or even non - educated mind says: "forget about the world." Any believer, anyone who is blessed with the gift of knowledge, and even the monetary gain should and must realize that with these arrive a trust, a responsibility, a duty to the world. What we are entrusted with ultimately becomes our responsibility.

Picture

Although the difficult conversations have left me in a state of utter heart break, the words that were inflicted upon my heart, cannot break me. Nor can they deter me from my purpose. My mission, my duty and care to the world. I am committed, and proud of my mentor Fred Cuellar who is American. With this commitment arrives a duty and a care, and a responsibility. It does not matter who stands in my way, I choose to remain committed. This is what trust is, the trust to one another, to a country, and to the world. No one is given trust, no one is given respect, everything is earned, Trust and respect is earned. It does not mean that the other person is mean, angry, or deceitful. It simply means that our duties, and allegiance differs.

For me, I invite the world to embrace our journey. Which is what I have done right from the beginning of my cyber space journey. I have shared my educational experiences, my own learning, teachings. The journey of being a parent,  my political views, as well as words to push forth our common vision of world unity. I am a human being who is concerned for the care of the world, with this also arrives the care for myself and my family. I am a person who is committed to America and our vision for the world. Not only through these words, but through showing how sports can unite, build and strengthen relationships with other countries.

Picture

As countries, people gather together we can see how players support each other to reach their common goal. Regardless of their religion, faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, race, ability or disability. We all have the capacity to create betterment. Anyone who desires to embrace our common vision for America and the world is welcome to embrace our journey. I cannot be allies with any suspects, even if any person is related to me. My duty is to protect love, and root out evil wherever it is found.

Words of Hope:
Today I can say that I am grateful for all that has taken place in my life. Everything that has happened was not my plan. Yet, today I realize that it was God's plan. I am who I am today because of everything that has happened in my life. My heart is with America. I care about the world and our humanity. I say this to all who are reading these words: My heart is with America till my very last breath.

Dedication: These words are dedicated to Fred Cuellar, to the people of America, and to the people of the world. God Bless You, God Bless America. And to those who oppose me, I will wait patiently for your embrace. With love & heartfelt peace.

The Arrival Of Knowingness

3/22/2017

Picture

"Train Your Eyes To See The Good In Everything."  Bob Beaudine

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, peace, and blessings, I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I find it interesting that these days I am always re-visiting (in my mind) how and why I began my cyber space journey. It began with a simple desire, a presence, to share my voice. It was a hope, an avenue to maybe inspire anyone who read my words. The journey has been over three years now, and I find myself continuing to share a presence, a hope, but also to talk about the issues that matter. We must talk about the issues that matter. If no one does, it is to remain in a state of ignorance, because with knowingness arrives a state of responsibility, a duty, a care to share. There may not be personal gain to this care, but there will be personal fulfillment. When one is fulfilled, ultimately this is personal gain. It simply depends on what one values.

Picture

This is the beauty of arriving in a state of knowingness. Although arriving in a state of knowingness may entail grappling with difficult facts or knowledge, it is this knowingness which allows us to guide our presence, our choices, and how we choose to be in the world. We can also relate knowingness to the human experience of life.

When we are born, we arrive into this world. We do not get a manual of how to live life when we are born. We simply don't just go through life, we grow through life. The negatives are just as beneficial as the positives. To demonstrate my thoughts I can share the example, one that I think I wrote about before but would like to re-visit.

     Example: Human Experience
At times I have faced difficult scrutiny from other women. During these times I did not understand why. Why do other women pick on each other? Then I realized that women are actually quite territorial, especially when a male arrives on the scene. However, what happens when a woman is not interested in this unwanted attention? What if a woman wants to engage in meaningful relationships with all genders to further her purpose?

Men and women must work together not just for the purposes of personal gain, but also for a duty, a care for the world, and our humanity. It is everyone's duty, to love and care for the purposes of re-generation and renewal of our world.

Picture

I began to think about the idea of women being hurtful to one another, this can and does happen. No one is perfect. We can compare these thoughts to the matriarchal societies that are widely present in African tribal societies. The women work together, share duties, raise families, care and love for each other. This love and care is based upon a common purpose, which is the survival of their family. What if we were to use this same framework for our human family, not only in the Western Hemisphere, but also for the world, where women seek to inspire, care, and love one another at the unconditional level, for the purposes of the common vision of: Love, care, re-generation and renewal. Ultimately when we love, educate one woman, that woman has the power to transform the many lives of others.

Picture

Dedication: The words of this being are dedicated to all beings, when women seek to  work together from the lens of purpose, we learn to love, care, evolve into love and light. Our common vision, of love peace, and prosperity. Sending love & kindness! :)

An Overview: The Brain

"We Can't  Solve Problems By Using The Same Kind Of  Thinking We Used When We Created Them."

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I was taking the time to think about the importance of a thought. This is not a new thought for me to be thinking about. But I am renewed to think about the importance of an idea. Everything that has been revealed in a tangible form was always a thought to begin with, which
reiterates my thoughts for the importance of a thought.

Atrium - 2014

Picture
Atrium - This thought was written to reveal the connection between the heart and the mind. These are intricately related to the disciplines of Psychology and Philosophy.

     Thinking and research is important
for the purposes of scientific inquiry. It is what drives research, innovations and technologies. We can simply think about the brain and the how research has developed with regards to the brain and it's development. With the use of technologies and neuro - scientific inquiry we are able to learn more about how the brain learns, creativity, and even the imagination. For this type of inquiry and even imagination the term neuro - philosophy is appropriate. Because is it philosophical thinking about the brain that is derived for the purposes of psychological, and neuro - scientific research about the brain.

To conclude my thoughts about the brain (for now), I would like to share my thoughts about the human brain, and memory and how these have evolved over time. I am reminded once again about the importance of creating and cultivating spaces for the purposes of critical thinking.

Reflection: A Review

3/18/2017

Picture

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, blessings, and peace. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I was taking the time to think and reflect about the events of this past week, where we witnessed the building of relationships with foreign leaders. We have seen the Saudi Crown Prince, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel visit the White House. As well as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's visit to Japan with Abe Shinzo. I found these events to be truly heart warming as we are witnessing leaders who are willing to work together, despite past events or rhetorics that may have hindered relationships. Here we are seeing human bridges being built by world leaders. And these are exactly the kinds of examples that our younger generations need to see.

Picture

However, as much as I did write about the recent travel bans, and the creation of the wall in my past writing called The Rhetoric Of Harm. I still stand firm about my thoughts with regards to the Executive Orders of the travel ban and the building of the U.S. - Mexico wall. However, this time I write about the recent hateful speech that is directly taking a stab at First Lady Melanie Trump, and the President Of the United States of America. It is one thing to be critical of an idea, however it is much too far fetched to evoke fear driven rhetorics that are directly aimed at causing terror.

This thought is exemplified when we see musicians such as Snoop Dogg creating musical videos that show him lifting a gun aimed right at the President. And then you hear other musical artists who are defending him as to what he has done. Every artist has the right to be expressive, but I am thinking if you are an artist who has some sort of claim to fame, and you are very well aware of the gun culture, and how this culture is breaking down families, tearing them apart. Then it is your duty to serve for the purposes of bringing some sort of positivity to communities.

The African - American adolescent populations are the most incarcerated populations in the United States of America. Instead of inducing more hate, why not use your talents to help those who are fighting addiction, living in poverty, those who have to steal, and resort to crime because of their socio / economic status. Instead of being critical of your leaders, when you fully well know that you have the capacity to do something to help drive social upheaval, then I think that it is much more beneficial to do so.

Picture

I have nothing against the rapper Snoop Dogg personally. In fact anyone who has visited Nottingham, UK will know that the rap culture is alive and well. But I have seen the damaging consequence of this culture right before my eyes. It is easy to judge others, but like they say: you cannot judge a book by it's cover. Everyone has a story, you have to read the book to discover its treasure. And everyone's time of death is decreed. It is pointless to induce hate and fear provoking tactics that are severing the very good relationships that leaders are working to build together. At the end of the day - death is inevitable for all.

I sincerely hope that these words reach Snoop Dogg and all those who have defended his rhetorics. I hope that these words will serve as a reflection for a public apology. Our future, our children, our world is too precious for this kind of sabotage.

Picture

Dedication: These words are dedicated to President Donald J. Trump, First Lady Melanie Trump, Saudia Arabia Crown Prince, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, the Presidential Team and all those involved to support and make meetings between leaders happen. I am deeply distressed because of these latest hate, terror tactics. I pray for all. My thoughts to share with love & kindness! :)

Hope's Renewal

"Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust" - Tinkerbell :)

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, blessings, and peace. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that I was taking the time to think about the responsibility of our world. Everyone has a responsibiity to the world. Every generation has a responsibility to the next generation to pass the world on to the next. We can think of this at the level of the macro - where world leaders are working with each other to build good relationships with other leaders. These could be to strengthen previous and existing relationships, and also to build new relationships.

This is the beauty of history. When we introspect history we learn about past political regimes, presidents,  empires, monarchies that were a force for good. We can also learn about the past political regimes that took place, that created break downs, and even tore families apart. From these histories we learn about what went wrong, and also how we can do things better. If you think about it the irony is, that we are lucky to be blessed with history. It allows for an opportunity, to create a new present, a new hope, that past mistakes are not repeated again. And a claim for forgiveness, a reconciliation with others so that the vision of peace can happen.

Picture
Crown Royal - Spain. The Spanish Empire was known as the Empire on which the sun never sets.

Example: An example of my thoughts were when I shared tweets with the hashtag #HistoryED. I used this hashtag to share some facts about the historical facts between India and Pakistan. Whilst these two nations may be bitterly divided today because of the constant war between Kashmir. It is important to remember that these two countries as well as Bangladesh were all connected as one nation. Regardless of religion, cast, or creed, the people were living together in harmony. The tweets I shared were as follows:

Picture
Picture

Today the Government of Pakistan has created a relationship with the Government of India so that people can enter Pakistan to visit and make pilgrimages to the holy sites.

Another example is the rise of Islam in Africa. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) fled to Abyssinia because of the persecution from tribal leaders in Mecca. They (PBUH) (Plural is written as a form of respect) were welcomed by the Christian king. This example once again shows the deep historical connections of our histories. The Prophet Muhammad resided with the protection of the king in Abyssinia for six years, until safe to return to Medina, Saudia Arabia.

Picture

For the purposes of peace we must seek a preservation for life, but also for the world we live in as well. These thoughts can be connected to the age old debate of Nature vs Nurture. It is a given that our human nature is affected by our human nurture. We are shaped by the environment that we live in. We also possess the ability to transcend the environments that we live in, to create better environments and also a better life style. So even if there is a debate, if you think about it on a deeper level, one cannot exist without the other. Also if there were no humans on the earth, then what is the point of earth? For Earth, we need humans, and for humans we need earth. There is a co - existent, and a  co - dependance that we must nurture.

Picture

Everyone possesses the ability to leave their mark, their foot print on the earth, however we must be mindful as to who and what we entrust the world to. What we choose to leave as our mark, and our foot print that can affect one human being or millions of human beings. We must create care about the message we desire to share. Our world is precious. We must be respectful to the histories, but also have an obligation to pave the way for the new.

Picture

We can think about my thoughts at a micro level as well. When we have a family. There is a generation, another, then another and so on. Our grandparents, our parents desire to pass on their heritage to the next generation. In order to do so, it should not mean that we merely mirror the actions of the generations before us, but to also query and question how we can do better at the level of the microcosm, and household.

As I write these words, I think about my life, and wonder about my previous footsteps, and the footsteps that are waiting to be revealed. It is truly an honor to share these words, as I too feel the sense of urgency to love and protect, serve for the sake of our humanity, for the sake of our world, for this precious humanity and world.

Dedication: The words of this being are dedicated to the all human beings who inhabit the earth. And to the President of Ireland, it was truly inspirational  to see two leaders together to strengthen relationships between nations. This thought is also extended as Secretary of State visit Japan. A great example of my thoughts. With love & Kindness! :)

Fragile Life.

Amy Krouse Rosenthal - Writer, film maker and radio host. 1991 - 2017

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, joy, blessings, and peace. I wanted t take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that when we hear the news of a loss, sometimes it takes a while for this news to sink in. I was truly moved, as I heard the loss of Amy Krouse Rosenthal, reporter for the powerful Modern Love column in the New York Times. It was not that I knew her personally, but it felt like a favourite author, singer or anyone who you formulate an emotional attachment to passes away.

Not only was this a sudden death, I was even more moved and touched as I read her column as she described her husband, and the love that they shared together. With the tears struck, I was reminded of the fragility of life. Life is precious.

Her loss was also a loss to the world of journalism, because she has something original to contribute. With deep thoughts of love, our condolences to family, friends and loved ones. And to her audiences who loved to read her writing. Thank you Amy krouse Rosenthal you will be missed, thank you for your service and contributions. With love & honor, rest in love, rest in peace.
