Reflection: Sunday Wellness

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is I think that the journey to wellness and healing does not happen in one day. Recovery is a process. The trauma's or negative experiences that we are faced with, be that from a personal experience, or from exposures of violence's of war from the military perspective. Regardless of training or knowledge, when all is said and done, we are reminded that we are human. No matter how far along we are on this journey of recovery, it is easy to get back into a state of anxiety or depression. We get triggered by certain events, or simply reminded through our memory.

This is the power of memory, it is always there. Reminders will automatically pop - up if we are triggered. We often feel this through a reminder, or constant reminders. Our reactions and sometimes even a physical sensation of pain in the body are manifested through this memory. Memories become trapped in our body. The quickest way to relieve the pain (depending upon severity) is to move the body. Move the energy, because emotion is also a motion.

The other way to find coping and healing is to allow the triggers, memories, and to work through these. We could write out the experiences to move the experience from the memory, or brain / mind to paper, draw it out, or simply find a practice that works for you.

Ignoring an experience or memory, shutting out a negative emotion may allow you to carry on with your daily routines, but mark my words, you will find frustration, or anxiety crop up again, and sometimes in a more severe form, or a way you wish that it didn't. This is why through the path of healing, or recovery it is important to accept how you feel from a memory, and to be aware of triggers. Acceptance is a beginning, an allowing of healing to take place.

My thoughts to share with love & kindness! :)
