Today I took the time to reflect and learn more about the history of Texas, and the day of independence. Due to the historical conflicts that were taking place, that were rooted with Mexican and Texan relations, a battle emerged and eventually led to the Texas claiming its independence from Mexico, the lands which originally belonged to Mexico. I thought about the history, whilst the many Anglo American settlers fought for independence, some Mexican's also fought along side the Anglo settlers as well, because they were frustrated and didn't want to go back home. These examples of history show how individuals worked together to claim independence, but at this present day, it could and should suggest that every member who is living in Texas belongs there, regardless of ancestry or origin. At the time, or on the day of independence it was probably viewed as a significant victory. As social evolutions, and progressions take place, we can also think and question: How has the diversity in the state of Texas has changed, progressed, or become more inclusive?
