As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that to envision or imagine a future it means looking past what is, and to see what could be. This was the backbone of my thoughts when I wrote: A Spiritual Revolution and Spiritual Unity. To  imagine how religion, people of faith, and unfaith could integrate, and be respectful of each other regardless of the differences, and beliefs that are held. While I still think that the possibility exists, to reach to the ideal points, there is much more work to be done. We can think of the tensions between Palestine / Israel, and the on-going conflict in the contested region of Kashmir, between India / Pakistan. What countries have in common is that they were historically colonized by the British.  Lands became separated as the British claimed their independence both from Israel and India.

"The British army occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, 9 December 1917, and withdrew on 14 May 1948."

While Britain assisted with the formation of Israel, they ignored the rights of the non-Jewish. This was the final clause in the Declaration of Independence as follows:

"that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of the existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country".

Not everyone, including objections from the British were in favour of British-Jewish protection, but nevertheless it happened, and since then there has been on-going violence in these regions. While the remnants of British Colonization still remain, one of these is the tension created from the division of land. Whilst we see efforts to ease the tensions between Israel and Palestine, we don't really see powerful nations doing much to settle the differences between territories. We might ask: Why should other countries get involved? I would ask: Is it OK to trade, engage with partnerships and deals when you know that these countries are using their power to kill, and exploit others?

Take the example of Israel for instance - Israel has an army. Palestine does not have a formal army. So the power imbalance becomes visible. There is a powerful majority who is able to attack innocent civilians instantly. But Palestinian's who are living in the West-Bank and Gaza were forced out of Israel, because of how the land was divided. They were forced out, and Israel was falsely given rights, and claims to the majority of the land. So it has become a battle between Jews (Arab Jews included), and Palestinian Muslims (Palestinian Jews included). Israel has been protected for far too long, as wealthy nations and even the United Nations have kept quiet for far too long. Now I'm not saying that no one is erroneous on each side, because they are. But what I am saying is that Israel uses it's power to attack the vulnerable, and there are questions surrounding human rights. Is it a wonder that Palestinian occupied territory, and people would defend themselves with forming their own type of army that is known as Hamas? Or weaponry, rockets, women, men, and children protesting their rights? From a historical and present lens we can ask: Did it make sense to create divisions when really the land belongs to the people of Jesus, Moses, and Muhammad? And as it does truly belongs to them, I am sure they would have allowed others who don't belong to any of their faiths to live amongst them.
