Education Attack

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

The truth is that the Parkland Shooting not only created a national debate about gun use, and possession in America, it has also evoked a conversation, and that is the importance of schooling and learning. What is learning? Why does or should anyone want to learn? Learning is to cultivate the human mind / brain. What we impress upon the brain is how it will think, act, behave. Just like taking care of the heart, eating properly, exercising, and being healthy. The brain also requires this nourishment, but also an intellectual nourishment as well.

Today as we live in the 21st century we see attacks on the nourishment of brains intellectual development, because individuals have recognized this power of the brain, when it is developed, or the added economic power through human intellectual development. The words economic power do suggest some sort of robotic element connected to that of a human being, and their intellectual growth. This is because when we see credentials, we automatically think of dollar signs. This is not necessarily a good or bad thing. But should this be the case?

The case is that as with any development or superiority, there are going to be road blocks to this success, because of the recognized power of intellectual development, or academic growth. Today not only do we see teachers, students, and unions using their power in the third world, or developing countries, we see this in first world countries, who have protected the rights of public education, but also de-emphazied the potential of education. This is because we are living in societies that value jobs, money, and results. Its easy to see results when you are working and receive instant visible results, through salaries, and pay checks. But for those seeking academic success, or growth, they are often bluffed, or looked down upon, because their economic impact or progress is not immediately seen.

Today the constant shootings and threats to schools are not only stifling learning, they are intentionally destabilizing public education. In other words messing with the human psyche, and creating turmoil within younger generations, who might even be deterred to learn all together. While these shootings are a deep cause of concern, and unsettling, they have created an importance, and value upon education itself, opening up a national conversation. Education, just as economic growth and jobs, is essential and valuable because it will produce the skilled labor force, entrepreneurs, or professionals of tomorrow. While focusing on trade, partnerships, and foreign investment, let these incidents be a reminder of the investment within a nation. Why seek to erode minority populations, when all these individuals, just as Anglo Americans will be the contributors of tomorrow? Education is a fundamental human right, this right is being threatened, and must continuously be protected for present, future generations, and for the minority and for the majority.
