Charlottesville: A Grieving Heart.

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

What does one say, think, do, or feel when there is violence that takes place from within a nation, or violence that comes to a nation externally - what is worse? We can think of this question and relate it to the constant threats from North Korea to America, or as today we witness the protests that are taking place in Charlottesville. Where there were protests from white supremacists groups that turned violent, with deaths as well. What is more devastating, internal or external?

When we have a deep love for a nation it is inevitable that internal and external sources of violence will be heart breaking, and devastating. But the difference between threats that take place at the internal level is that the very cherished values and ideals of a nation become challenged. The internal violences beg us to question what is being protested, why and how these act to uphold rights as well as to violate the rights of others.

I think that as we embrace today and even the days ahead, we have to ask - is there place for racism or this type of white supremacy in America? All lives matter, white, black, brown or any other color label that you want to assign. All lives matter. Yet, we cannot ignore the barriers that minorities and visible minorities have to break in order to reach their desired goals, or potential.

Even if we are living in the 21st century - it does not mean that the work towards striving for justice or equality has been reached. There is always room for improvement. The protests that we have seen absolutely show that more work needs to be done to make sure that the cherished values of America are preserved and maintained. Every life is valuable. Ignorance mixed with power is the worst form of justice.

Dedication: My thoughts go out to all of those who have been affected by the violence in Charlottesville, either physically, or emotionally. And to those who have lost their lives, may you rest in peace, may you rest in love. A grieving heart, my thoughts to share with love & kindness.
