Yesterday I had the opportunity to listen to some of the live stream of a conference that was hosted by the World Bank. It was great to hear of all of the wonderful initiatives that are being led through the initiatives for the developing world. I am currently thinking about some of the thoughts that were offered. There was the offering of the following quote:
I wanted to offer my thoughts with regards to this quote. I absolutely agree that we must not falter what it comes to the education of girls. Girls must be given this opportunity. Women and girls must never be left behind when it comes to any opportunity, be it education or any endeavour that they wish to pursue. With these thoughts in mind, we must not leave out boys, or any gender for that matter. If we leave out boys, or even men what are we doing? We are leaving out large portions of a populations. Boys or men need to learn how to treat women and girls with love, empathy, sympathy and compassion. We must eradicate the stories of rape, abuse, or sexual violence. This is done through educating boys as well. Lets turn the conversation into respect for each other, and into that of gender equality.
As we look to a building a future, yes we must use the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors, from multiple and diverse perspectives, and we must also think of ways of integrating the whole population. My thoughts to share with love & kindness! :)
