A Bid For Humanity??

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

Houston is known for hosting large events. These could be sporting, conferences, music and so on. I thought about the Democratic National Convention, and the recent bid for Houston City to host this convention. Should Houston be the city to host this event? In my opinion: no. Not because of any personal political opinion, but because if Houston decides to get involved in taking political sides, inevitably it is, and is going to hurt the very open spirited, unlimited freedom that has been built through sports, sports diplomacy, and the diverse nature of the city.

Having said this, the bid also reveals the contradictory values of the a welcoming city, that have recently also been called to question, especially due to Mayor Sylvester Turner's response for not allowing a warehouse space to be used as a child shelter for border children. Children who have already suffered enough from what they have escaped, and also more agony at the U.S. / Mexico border.

While I myself do not agree with the cruelty politics, cruel immigration policy, zero tolerance. I don't think politics should have been put at the forefront of this decision. You have to remember while the crisis of border children has been happening since the Obama Era, the crisis has been ignored for years and years. This humanitarian crisis should neither be viewed as Democratic of Republican, because Democrats are the same, they don't care, not willing to negotiate on anything. And if the name of the shelter was the problem, then why not change it to "child supervision centre"? It's that simple.

Bids that bring in the money, add capital are called in for quick action, but when there was an opportunity to assist vulnerable children, they were denied. Of course a financially stable and flourishing city is desirable, but when there was an opportunity for assisting those who could careless of a political opinion, and are desiring for the most basic needs of food, and shelter, they were denied. We have to stop and think for a moment, and wonder where priorities are?

My thoughts to share with love & kindness.
