After I finished creating this piece of art, which I have called Houston Strong, I could not stop looking at what I had created. I remembered my footsteps, my heart beats, the lives that I had touched, for the brief days that I was fortunate to serve the people of Houston. A few tears fell. A yearning once again arose.
Can we ever wish away suffering? No we cannot. What is more important is how we heal through the pain, and what we seek to do with the energy received from the pain. To all Houstonians, and Texas I continue to remain proud of everyone, seeing how you all worked together through this natural disaster was truly inspiring.
Houston Strong, inspired through the surrealism of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Salvador Dali. With love & kindness, dedicated to Houston, Fred Cuellar & family! :)
