The Round Robin

As I close my eyes and drift away to a land where there is love, health, peace, and blessings. I wanted to take the time to think and reflect.

Have you ever felt as the saying goes "the round robin?" It means doing the same thing over and over again. I have felt this way many times especially when it comes to writing about issues. I guess this is part of being a futurist, or thinking / imagining a future. It is the ability to foresee, imagine ideas, write about them, and then only to write about them again when you start to see that they are surfacing. The round robin thought emerged, when I was thinking about the betrayal. I'm talking about the betrayal that arrives through the relationship one possess with a nation. These ideas have been written about previously. We can also relate them to Shakespeare's Hamlet, King Lear, or Romeo and Juliet. The endings of theses dramatic plays could have been very different, if the characters were told different things, at specific or different times. In a sense when Shakespeare was writing, he was merely conveying truths, except in the form of plays / stories. What happened in the walls of kingdoms were kept secret. Shakespeare revealed truth, but also concealed truth.

We can relate these thoughts to a nation. You never really know what is happening within a nation, until you are physically present, and have experienced life within that nation. This could be the nation that you are loyal to, or a nation that you are living in as an outsider. But there is value to both. As an outsider you can also understand what is happening within that nation. The same can be said of organizations. You never really know what is happening within an organization, until you have experienced it. It is through the experience, we can gather what one values, and what one does not. But where do and should organizations draw the line? How do the values of associations and societies affect those of the organization as a whole? For this I can only give one answer, and that is the following: Loyalty is putting Nation above everything else.

This thought does not deny the room for democracy, democratic exchanges, or thought. But is does evoke a boundary, to all that is being tested and said. If it harms and hinders your loyalty to a nation, then there is no question - draw the line. Democratic thinking, thought, and social innovation is messy, sometimes we do have to blur the lines. But just as Republicans and Democrats respond to any state of emergency, or fragility, they come together to put the nation first. This should be the core, crux, and pinnacle - a fragmented nation not only looses out at the national level, but also at the international level. Other nations use this fragmentation as a prey to evoke more weakness.

These thoughts can also be transferred to the level of the institution. We must always keep the freedom of speech thought alive, have lively democratic discussions, debate, but must also adhere to the core American values of Loyalty, integrity, trust, respect for others regardless of differences, and above all, loyalty to one's nation. It only takes a few whispers here and there to spoil trusted relationships, and flourishing institutions. This is where as the round Robin, I go back to my earlier example of Hamlet. It only took a few whispers to ruin a kingdom, and the lives within, because of a few individuals who sought to destroy. However, as humans we have to take the risk to trust, this is the only way we can truly know, who can or cannot be trusted. Turn towards God. He will guide you.

My thoughts to share with love & kindness! :)
